Graffiti Throw up

A THROW UP is the next step. No, No, No.. not talking about what you do after you’re mother-in-law’s cooking. I want to touch on another facet of “getting up”, the throw-up. This term can be intermingled with others such as tossies, quickies, throwies etc. A throw-up is traditionally bubble letters “thrown up” on the wall or surface quickly in many locations. A throw-up usually has:

• a Fill – filled in color, black and white or inverted ..or any other contrasting colors..


• Hollow a.k.a no fill – this is a hard outline of the bubble letters and also has a 3D shadow to pop off the lettering


• a Style – traditional bubble to plain lettering or modified bubble letters. Sometimes you can read it sometimes you can’t. The more you see them the more you’ll understand.



Throwies are also accompanied by a tag.
