Non-profit events help to break the generally negative reputation Cleveland underground hip hop has with respect to helping our community. We all know Cleveland is filled with poverty and struggle but did you know you can do something to make a change.
To get started you need to choose a charity you like and personal feel connected to. This will help you stay motivated through out the promotions process.
If you can get yourself a good enough corporate sponsor list not only will the event cost you zero dollars but there is a good chance you will be able to afford a national headliner.
One thing to remember is that if you are doing a cancer society show you should not be trying to get a cigarette company to sponsor you. You have to believe in the charity because if you do not it will be very obvious to the people who do.

When you start looking for the venue to host your event make sure to find one that also likes the charity and let them know your plans to help raise some money. In most cases you can get the club at a very good price.
I was amazed to see that most people in Cleveland would love to help out their community. Non-profit events are my favorite type of event for a number of reasons the main one being the difference you can make and besides any promoter could use the good karma and all the free exposure.
