No Money Down

Imagine if you could book any club in Cleveland for no money down. Well, if you are reading this right now you are not to far away. What if I told you the amount of money you spend on your Cleveland hip hop event is directly related to the level of understanding and experience you have promoting the scene.

Most Cleveland club owners are tired of promoters telling them that they are going to pack their club and for whatever reason they fail to do so. This is the same reason no money down deals are usually kept for better known promoters.

Obviously, a lot of your venue costs will be determined by the day you want to throw your event. So remember weekdays are always cheaper. There are plenty of nice clubs sitting downtown and in the Flats that do not do anything most of the week.

You should also try to make sure you are getting a club that has lights, sound, and security included. Most downtown clubs are fully equipped with everything plus an engineer.

Over the last couple years I have worked with a lot of club owners and I can tell you from experience it is not easy to get them to cut you in on bar profits. This is the main reason that most of my early shows had a bar/door arrangement. Basically, I would get the door profits and the club would keep the bar profits. This is one of the easiest deals to arrange because there is not to much at stake for either party involved.

The good news is once you throw one good event at your venue you increase the chance that you will be able to get the club again for no money down or even start a weekly.

As always if you know somebody who has the hook up, use them, it can end up saving you some major cash on your event. This extra cash is more wisely spent on event promotion.
