Headliner Events

We you are talking about headliner events you are talking about spending cash. These type of shows take a certain amount of skill and familiarity with the scene. They usually require bigger venues, more security, and way more costs around the board.

When choosing a national act it is important to not get emotionally attached to your headliner. Just because they where one of your favorites back in the day does not mean they can sell out a venue and most importantly make you and your investor money.

I have seen a lot of old school shows fall threw because the promoter assumed people would remember what song the headliner did. One of my all time favorite groups may not necessarily be the best group from a business perspective.

Some national acts command $30 a head for their door fee. They will pack any venue, any day, any time. The advantage of getting someone so well known is obvious, but did you know you can now offset show cost by charging local artist to open.

Booking Headliners

You should always see when your performer will be in the area before you book them this way you can avoid expensive airfare and book them way cheaper. If they are from England and they are scheduled to perform in Columbus that Saturday you are going to want to try to book them for the next day before their flight leaves.

Another good technique is to contact major labels and ask them if they have any artist they would like to showcase in your area.

All these techniques are good but The best way of all is to find someone who knows the artist personally. This will save you a ton of cash and help move the booking process along.

You should start thinking about what your door costs are going to be.
