A freeze can be performed at any time during your run. Your average stall can be learned in a couple minutes (as I will show you). Difficult stalls will take a bit more skills and so they need their own pages. No matter what level stalls you do the key is to keep it on beat.
My favorite stall is the one I have never seen before, so be creative. Remember, how you get into your stall is as important as the stall itself. I always like to do a couple moves that lead up to a stall, like a thread or shoulder roll.
So lets try a couple basic stalls...
Turtle
Crouch down to ground level
Place Both of your Elbows in your stomach and
Place your hands on the ground in Front of you
lean Forward and Balance your weight on your Hands
Lift your Legs off the ground
It is ok if you touch your head on the ground to help you balance your legs. Eventually you will build up enough strength and this will not be necessary.
Once you have mastered the turtle freeze try some variations…
One Handed Turtles
Switching Hands
Walking
Hopping
Spinning
Baby
Start off crouched to the ground with your Right foot extended in front of you
Place your palms on the ground to the Right of you
Lean to the Right and balance your weight on your palms
Keep your Right Leg extended out and place it on your Left elbow
Chair
Start off crouched to the ground with your Right palm on the Right side of your body
Straiten your legs out to the Left of your body
Balance your weight on your Right hand
Place your Left hand on your Left hip
Cross Right leg on Left knee
Bend Left knee and place Left foot on the ground
Arch your back
Combos
Once you learn a couple clean stalls you better learn to make the most of them by combo connecting them. Since there is an infinite number of stalls there is a infinite number of combinations. Try going from a turtle to a chair freeze and back. Just remember to keep it creative and clean.
