Flares are basically double leg circles. You are swinging your legs in a circles under your body. You should be able to do a one step pretty well in both directions. This helps you feel the momentum and how you need to sift your balance.
You need to be in pretty good shape to whip your legs around your body. Doing dips, push-ups, planche, sit-ups, and stretching are all going to make this move a lot easier.
Start by spreading your legs and placing your hands on the ground in front of you.
Lift your left hand and kick your right leg in a clockwise swing motion behind your body while bending your left knee.
Swing your strait right leg into the back of your bent left leg.
Jump up and straiten your left leg in front of you.
Continue swinging your right leg until your legs are strait in front of you and your body is fully extended.
Now lift your right hand and swing your left leg around the right side of your body while keeping your right leg above your waist.
Continue swinging until you are facing the ground with your legs high in the back and both arms on the ground.
Repeat
Once you can do these normal and get five rotations you are ready to try advanced versions. Filipino's differ because you kick into them using the classic b-boy power kick.
No matter what version you do, you are generating a lot of power that can be used to combo into a lot of other moves.
